Pastor Jedi's Bio: Jediael "Jedi" Johnson (a.k.a. "The Preacha-Poet") describes himself as a former pseudo-intellectual who was raised under Old Covenant theology, thinking his belief in the God of the OT and believing in the 10 commandments was enough to get in good with God. Born in Chicago and having moved to L.A. 23 years ago at the age of 14, Jediael gave his life to Christ in 1998 after the birth of his first son out-of-wedlock. But it wasn't until 2001, after being convicted by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God of his sin of pride and fornication, that he truly surrendered his life to Christ in repentance and abiding faith. Since that time, "The Preacha-Poet" has been seeking the LORD and serving Christ with his gifts of preaching, teaching, poetry, rhyme and song. He started teaching the Bible in 2002 and received his minister's license in 2004. Formerly serving as the young adult pastor at Paradise Baptist Church and co-pastor of the residential discipleship ministry at Gardena International Christian Church, Jediael says his advanced training in practical theology has come with his last 2 1/2 years of being homeless and serving the homeless community at the shelter where he has stayed and worked. He is now fully committed to serving the community of Skid Row as a full-time missionary and pastor-teacher. Share on Facebook, Twitter and others |
